How to properly clean fur and remove common dirt
Basic cleaning
1. Shake the coat
After each wear, gently shake the coat to remove loose dirt, dust and snow. Do this outdoors or by an open window so dirt does not return inside.
2. Brushing
Use a special fur brush or a comb with metal teeth. Brush in the direction of fur growth.
- For long fur, start at the tips and work toward the roots
- Be gentle, do not pull tangled areas
- Brush at least every two weeks when wearing
3. Airing
Regularly air the coat in fresh air, in the shade (never in direct sun).
Recommendation: 1–2 hours a month. Ideally on a balcony or in a shaded garden.
Removing stains
Wet stains (water, snow)
- Gently dab with a clean cotton cloth (do not rub)
- Let it dry naturally at room temperature
- Once dry, comb the fur
Greasy stains
Greasy stains are the most challenging. We recommend professional cleaning.
First aid: Sprinkle the stain with corn starch, let it sit for 24 hours, then brush off. Does not always work.
Dust & loose dirt
Regular brushing and shaking. For heavier soiling use a vacuum on its lowest setting with an upholstery nozzle (do not touch the fur directly).
What to NEVER do
Do not use chemicals
No household cleaners, fabric softeners, vinegar, baking soda. They destroy the natural oils in fur.
Do not wash in water
Neither cold nor hot water. The leather stiffens and the product becomes unusable.
Professional cleaning
We recommend professional cleaning every 2–3 years or with heavier soiling.
Important: Look for a cleaner specialised in fur ("fur cleaning"), not a regular dry cleaner.
