Care specifics for different fur types and their properties
Fox
Fox features long, dense and shiny fur with a distinctive undercoat. It is one of the most popular and representative furs.
- Regularly comb with a long-toothed comb in the direction of the fur
- Never pull tangled tufts — gently work them out
- Provide ample space when storing so the fur is not compressed
- Premium fox requires especially gentle handling
Mongolian sheep
Mongolian sheep has a characteristic long, curly fur with a natural sheen. The fur is very soft and airy but sensitive to deformation.
- Do not comb too often — you will disrupt the natural waves
- After wear, lightly shake and let it air
- Always store hanging, never folded in a box
- Avoid wet weather — the wool loses its shape when damp
Raccoon
Raccoon fur is one of the warmest and most durable. A dense undercoat and longer guard hairs make it ideal for freezing days.
- Extremely resilient, copes even with harsh winter conditions
- Brush the dense fur regularly to prevent matting
- When drying, take time to fully dry the undercoat as well
- When having it professionally cleaned, mention it is raccoon fur
Mink and other short-haired furs
Short-haired furs like mink have a smooth, soft surface. They are elegant and relatively low-maintenance but very sensitive to chemicals.
- Regularly wipe with a soft dry cloth in the direction of the fur
- Avoid contact with perfumes and cosmetics
- Short fur quickly absorbs odours — air it regularly
